Project KARE

A 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization

Project KARE is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, more specifically to address the needs of abused, neglected or dependent children and their families.

Thousands of abused, neglected and troubled children have experienced the comfort of knowing the Stark County Community cares about them. These children are under the care of Stark County Children Services and may have suffered from a variety of abuses in their lives. They may live with relatives, with their parents, or in other residential care.

Project KARE is a program that enables these children to receive school supplies, holiday gifts and other types of assistance thoughout the year. Requests for assistance are made through a referral from the child’s assigned social worker.

Programs

Rising Up...Moving On

Children in the custody of Stark County Children Services who are emancipating from the system and who are receiving their high school diploma or GED certificate are recognized at a program held every year in June. Individuals, families, and organizations may sponsor a child by making a donation. Donations cover the cost of lunch for the graduate, guest and a cash gift.

Back To School Project

With the assistance of individuals and organizations, Project KARE coordinates the collection of school supplies to be distributed to children in need, every August.

Birthday Buddies

Birthday Buddies is a new program to Project KARE. Every month, Project KARE selects two children to receive a special gift and recognition on their birthday

Annual Holiday Project

Adopt-A-Child

Individuals, families or organizations may purchase an individualized gift for a child ages birth to 11. Donors are provided with the first name, sizes and gift suggestions for a needy child. Project KARE volunteers then arrange to pick up the gifts in time for delivery before Christmas.

Adopt-A-Teen

Individuals, families or organizations may purchase a gift card or make a donation to assist with the purchase of gift cards for needy children ages 12 and older.

Stocking Stuffers

Project KARE looks forward to partnering with local organizations for the Stocking Stuffers Project. Stockings filled with fun items such as toys and candy, as well as school supplies and personal items for children of all ages are collected and distributed. Organizations
interested in partnering with Project KARE, should contact the number listed below.

Toy Drives

Individuals, families or organizations may host toy drives to collect new toys and games for children of all ages.
